Privacy Policy

Barrel Buddy makes hardwood cutting boards in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada, and sells them through this website. We handle your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Order information. When you place an order, our commerce provider (Shopify) collects your name, email address, shipping address, phone number, and payment details. Payments are processed entirely by Shopify and its payment processors — we never see or store your card number.

Custom engraving designs. When you use the design editor, we save your design — any text you type, designs you choose from our gallery, and images you upload — so we can produce your engraving and send you a proof.

Messages. If you contact us through the contact form or by email, we keep your name, email address, and message so we can respond.

Reviews. Product reviews are collected and displayed through Judge.me. If you leave a review, the name, rating, text, and any photos you submit are stored by Judge.me and shown on our product pages.

Technical basics. Your cart is remembered in your own browser's storage, and the design editor uses an anonymous session identifier to keep track of your work in progress. We do not use advertising trackers or sell browsing data.

Images you upload for engraving are stored privately and accessed only through secure, time-limited links. With your consent (requested in the design editor before upload), we use AI-powered tools to convert your image into clean line art suitable for laser engraving. Your images are used solely to produce your engraving and proof — never for marketing, never to train AI models, and never shared beyond the services needed to fulfil your order.

Saved designs that don't become an order are automatically deleted after 30 days. Designs and uploads tied to a completed order are kept as long as needed to produce, support, and stand behind your order — you can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.

We use the information above to:

• Process and ship your order, and keep you updated about it
• Produce your custom engraving and email you a proof for approval
• Answer your questions and provide support
• Display verified product reviews

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't send marketing email unless you've asked for it.

We rely on a small set of service providers, each of which receives only what it needs to do its job:

• Shopify — store, checkout, and payment processing
• Vercel — website hosting
• Supabase — secure storage of engraving designs and uploads
• Judge.me — product reviews
• Resend — transactional email (e.g. engraving proofs)
• Google Fonts — font delivery (your browser requests fonts from Google's servers)

Some of these providers store data outside Canada (for example, in the United States). Where that happens, your information is protected by the provider's contractual and security commitments.

We keep things minimal: your cart ID is stored in your browser so your cart survives between visits, the design editor keeps an anonymous session ID while you work, and Shopify sets the cookies it needs to operate checkout securely. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

The site is served over HTTPS, uploads live in private storage accessible only through signed links, and payment handling is delegated to Shopify's PCI-compliant systems. We keep order records as long as required for accounting and legal purposes, draft designs for 30 days, and everything else only as long as it's needed.

You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (subject to records we're legally required to keep). Email brett@barrelbuddy.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
